My Name is Kim, I’m young inspired and energetic! In fact, often times too energetic. If you aren’t laughing at me for being the world’s biggest dork, it’s because you’re so dazzled with your portraits! I’m confident in what i do and with who i am. I started Element One from the ground up, and I’m proud of how far I have come. Although, I couldn’t have done it without my friends, family, and loving husband. Over the past three years, Element One Studio has become my life. I’m passionate about creating awe-inspiring images, at, and outside of work.
I shoot with a Canon 5d, but it hasn’t always been that way. I started with a Ricoh XR7, my Dad’s old film camera. Anymore it would be considered a dinosaur, and over the years I made the transition to digital. I completely stand behind the digital medium. It is extremely versatile, more economically suitable, and has arguably become an industry standard.
I started at a corporately owned studio when I had just turned 17. I loved working with kids, but always craved more room for my artistic touch. I later took a job at a more “up-scale” studio, but still didn’t have the freedom to do what I wanted. I wanted to be able to know my client’s by name, and not feel like I had to rush them through the system. I was interested in establishing a reliable well-meaning relationship with my clientele.
After 5 years in the photography business, I got tired of doing things someone else’s way, so I decided to do it on my own. I had a camera, I was motivated, and I set out to do just that. For a year I spent time one-on-one with families making sure the service they received went above and beyond what any regular studio would ever offer.
A year later I found the perfect store-front for Element One. I couldn’t have been more right in my decision to set up shop in Downtown Littleton. Although the building was pretty run down (it had be a gun store for several years) it felt right. The renovation was arduous to say the least (see before and after images), and at times seemed impossible. The pictures of my studio don’t do it any justice, but the hard work paid off. Stop by for coffee, and you will agree, the studio looks and feels brilliant!
I can’t say where Element One Studio will take me, but I’m excited to find out! The only way to be good at something is to work hard at it, and the only way to get there is by giving it your all.
